Rock Starlet Challenge

Ladies!  What do we love about Women ROCK?  Running with other women?  The SWAG? There are so many great things about this race!

Now we are sweetening the deal with a FUN challenge so you can experience it again and again.  It is called the ROCK STARLET CHALLENGE.

Here is how it works:

The Rock Starlet Challenge is 3 races in one morning. The Half, 10K, 5K & 2.5K will all have separate starting times. You will run one race and it will bring you directly back to the starting line area. The challenging part is depending on your pace is how long your wait will be between races. A faster runner will have a longer break. A slower runner will have a shorter break or sometimes no break at all. After completing all races you will then get your Rock Starlet Challenge medal.

Rock Starlet Challenge - 2.5K, 5K, 10K
Super Rock Starlet Challenge - 2.5K, 5K, Half Marathon

*Must complete 10K in 2 hr 15 min

*Must complete Half in 2 hr 45 min

Sign up for three of our four races and you'll get a fourth medal showing you met the Rock Starlet Challenge!

Criteria:

Rock Starlet:  Sign up for the 2.5K, 5K and 10K, PLUS a medal showing you met the Rock Starlet Challenge.

Super Rock Starlet:  Sign up for the 2.5K, 5K and Half Marathon, PLUS a medal showing you met the Super Rock Starlet Challenge.

2.5K Race

Join us for our fun race to get you ready for all-things Women ROCK!  It is the perfect distance for the new runner or if you are introducing a daughter, niece, granddaughter or family friend to running!  Plus, add this race to the other distances you are doing on Saturday and you'll be a member of the ROCK Starlet Challenge!

Race Security

Team Ortho Foundation and Women ROCK are taking additional security precautions to keep this event as safe as we can.

  • Bag drop bags will be available at packet pick-up and on race day and will be clear in color. You must use the clear bag on race day.   If you bring your own bag to bag check specifically, we reserve the right to inspect it for security purposes.
  • Spectators should leave backpacks and big purses at home.  If they are brought into the race area, they will be subject to inspection.
  • We ask that participants and spectators be aware and respectful of sirens and emergency vehicles that may end up on the course.  If you hear or see an emergency vehicle, please move to the side of the road.

Team Ortho has other additional security measures in place at all points on the course.

Neighborhood Detours

This is neighborhood information for 2016.  We will update the information for 2017 in August.

Women ROCK is a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K along the Mississippi River in St. Paul.  As a result, we want to make sure residents and spectators know what to expect and how to get around when roads are closed.

Road Closure times

Mississippi River Blvd:  Ford Parkway to Hwy 5 - 6:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Shepard Road: Hwy 5 to Washington 6:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m.  Washington to Jackson 5:30 - 12:30
We will do our best to get everything off the road as quickly as possible and St. Paul Police will open the roads behind the last runners.

Hidden Falls Detour
If exiting from Highway 5, and you want to go to Hidden Falls via Shepard Road/Mississippi River Boulevard, signs will guide you to follow Edgcumbe Road.  Take a left on Munster Ave., and another immediate left onto Norfolk Lane (which turns into Norfolk Ave.)  Follow that to Cleveland Ave. South and take a right.  Keep going all the way to Magoffin Avenue and take a left.  An officer will greet you at Mississippi River Boulevard and allow you to cross to Hidden Falls when it is safe to do so.

Shepard Road Detour
Please take Highway 5/West 7th, which runs parallel to Shepard road and use as your detour.  Highway 5 can get you into Minneapolis or to the airport.
St. Paul Police will allow access to local businesses as well when it is safe.

Mississippi River Boulevard (MRB)
Mississippi River Boulevard is closed from Ford Parkway  to Highway 5 from 6:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.  We will be allowing an access lane for residences between Prior and Magoffin.  It is required that residents only travel north on this lane so everyone is going in the same direction.  Please plan accordingly.

Upper Landing Condos, Caribou Coffee, Anytime Fitness
Upper Landing Park will be the start and finish area for all distances as well as a gathering location for the  post-race party.  Residents of Upper Landing Condos and folks who want to access the Caribou Coffee and Anytime Fitness will still be able to get to and from the area via Eagle/Old Chestnut during the race.  Shepard  Road will be closed from Highway 5 to Jackson, with the exception of the Eagle/Old Chestnut intersection being clear for traffic.  There will be no traffic on Shepard Road from Eagle during this event.

Bike/Trail Traffic
The bike/pedestrian trail near Upper Landing runs parallel to our race start and finish line and is open to the public.  We will do the best we can to  keep this unobstructed for folks who plan to use the trail on Saturday morning.  However, please keep in mind you could face some race congestion.  Please feel free to continue on this trail or you could take a suggested detour that could bring you around the race without much trouble.  Traveling West on the trail, you can go to the left where the trail splits before Upper Landing Park and continue on the trail along the river until you can pop back up near Washington which is past our finish line and the congestion should subside in this area.  If you are traveling east (toward downtown) we suggest you do the same route.

Thank you for your patience.  If you are a resident who lives on Mississippi River Boulevard (south of Ford Parkway to Shepard) and are affected by this closure, a letter is being sent to your home notifying you of the road closures.
